Helium is a colorless, odorless noble gas. It has the lowest boiling point of all the elements and may solidify only if subjected to very high pressures. It comes as monatomic gases and is chemically inert. It is the second most abundant element in the universe, after hydrogen.

Noble gas, colorless, odorless, nonflammable, chemically inert, non-toxic. However, in high concentrations it acts as an asphyxiant.

APPLICATIONS
A cylinder of helium is also used to inflate balloons mylar or latex for recreational use;
- Liquid helium is a growing use of magnetic resonance imaging;
- Gas “carrier” in gas chromatography;
- Helium-oxygen mixtures are used in high-pressure breathing apparatus for deep diving and submarines
